The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that the Lekki toll plazas would be open to motorists on Thursday for an assessment of the traffic problem in the area.

According to the governor, the plazas would be open for free passage of vehicles between 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Sanwo-Olu spoke while addressing state house correspondents after a tour of the Victoria Island-Lekki-Ajah area about traffic and flooding issues.

He said that the opening of the tollgates would allow the government to carry out a traffic situation analysis to find solutions to the issue of gridlock and other traffic issues in the Victoria Island-Lekki-Oniru corridor.

“We have consulted with a few traffic experts and what we are going to do tomorrow (Thursday) is to leave the toll plaza open."

“The Lekki Ikoyi link bridge and the Lekki toll gate is going to be open for over three hours from 6.30a.m to 9.30a.m tomorrow. It will also be left open in the evening from 4:30 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The objective is that we want to do a real simulation of traffic study,” Sanwo-Olu said.
