Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has praised the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) for drawing the national and global attention to the worsening security situation in Nigeria.

Obi spoke at the weekend on the side-line of an international business conference organised by Nigeria, America Business Forum (NABF) in the United States of America (U.S.A).

The former governor said the peaceful protest by the bishops showed their patriotism and concern for the challenging situation in the country.

A statement by his media office quoted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart as saying other critical stakeholders in the country should join the clerics in uniting against insecurity in the land for necessary action.

Obi, who was the keynote speaker at the forum, said what Nigeria desperately needs is investment, especially foreign direct investment (FID), to reboot its declining economy and create jobs for the nation’s unemployed youths.

But nobody will be attracted to invest in an unsecured or lawless environment, the former governor said.
